This week's pets are Bruno and Liberty. Bruno is a nice and calm 8-year-old black/tan Rottweiler mix male. Liberty is a sweet 1-year-old white domestic short haired female. To adopt either of these pets, contact Animal Friends of the Valleys at 674-0618 and ask for intake number 30785 for Bruno or 26875 for Liberty. Adoptions are now half off everyday for seniors (age 60-plus) who adopt senior pets (age 5-plus). AFV kids camp Animal Friends of the Valleys is now taking registrations for the Furry Friends Kids’ Camp. Children will learn proper pet care, responsibility and bite prevention. They will interact with the animals, brush and walk the dogs and make crafts. There will be two one-week sessions for children ages 7 to 13. Session 1 will be held from March 29 to April 2 and Session 2 will be held April 5 through April 9. Cost is $60 per child. For registration, call 775-3204 or e-mail boo8689@aol.com. Supplies needed The Animal Friends of the Valleys is holding its 2010 Canned Food Drive. The puppy and kitten season is coming and AFV is in desperate need of canned food. They are already seeing an increase in animals. Last year AFV cared for 9,494 dogs and cats, many of which came to them pregnant or with a litter. Canned food can be dropped off at the shelter, which is also in need of kitty litter. Pet foster care needed Residents can help save animals that would otherwise be put down by providing temporary housing. Information regarding the foster program, including an application and guidelines, can be found at the website. AFV serves Canyon Lake and surrounding areas, offering animals for adoption as well as providing animal control services. The shelter is located at 29001 Bastron St. in Lake Elsinore, and is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit animalfriendsofthevalleys.com or call 471-8344. |
