Letter: Asking for help

I thought my job would always be secure when I started Nettles Family Childcare 13 years ago. Well, now so many people are out of work there is little need for daycare. I usually have six to eight full-time children, but now have only three part-time and am on the verge of losing everything.
Canyon Lake is a close-knit community. How many times have you watched a moving van pull up to a neighbor’s house and watched them load what’s left of their lives? When you hear they’ve lost everything, you think, “I didn’t even know they were in trouble.”
Well, friends and neighbors, I’m in trouble. I’ve tried all I can – signs, flyers, ads, etc., but without jobs, parents or relatives who have already lost everything are now watching the kids in exchange for housing and food.
I’m here asking for help, not just for myself, but for so many others, too! If you know someone who needs childcare or pet sitting, please provide my number. So many jobs are needed, as well as information on ways to cut back on the basics: electric bill, water bill, etc.
Please print any information in The Friday Flyer or call me at 244-4377. Jobs or any help will be appreciated.
Let’s not be too proud to ask for help and, even more, let’s not be too proud to help!
