Club News Republican Women Federated California State Senate 37th District candidate Russ Bogh will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Republican Women Federated on Monday, March 22, at 10 a.m. in the Magnolia Room at the Country Club. A luncheon will follow upstairs in the restaurant. Congressman Darrell Issa will be the guest speaker at the April 10 meeting at 1 p.m. in the City Multi-purpose Room. The meeting is open to the public and reservations are suggested. Also, residents are invited to mark their calendars for a “Wine, Women and Elephants” fundraiser on May 18, from 3:30 to 7 p.m., at the Lodge. Jr. Women’s Club The Jr. Women’s Club will host “Teens on Spring Break” on Monday, March 29, from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Pool View Room at the Lodge. Admission is $5. The Easter Carnival is scheduled for Saturday, April 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and vendors and high school volunteers are wanted. The Canyon Lake Jr. Women’s Club is a philanthropic organization whose efforts benefit local children and families in need. Tennis Club The club’s next tournament will be the annual Fiesta Doubles Round Robin on Saturday, April 17 at 8 a.m. The cost is $10 per person and the deadline to sign up is Wednesday, April 14. Canyon Lake Community Theatre The CLCT is currently accepting proposals to direct this year’s children’s summer play, “Bugsy Malone,” and the fall show, “State Fair.” The club is looking for experienced directors. Twirlers The beginning square dance class is held every Wednesday from 7 to 8:15 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge. A plus-level workshop is held from 6:15 to 7 p.m. and a dance-level workshop is held from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Regular club dances are held on the second Sunday of each month in the Holiday Bay Room. Led by Diana Gallagher, beginner line dance class is held every Tuesday (except the second one), from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Pool View Room at the Lodge. All ages are welcome. On the second Tuesday of each month until April, class is held in the City Multi-purpose Room. A beginning to intermediate line dance class is offered Wednesdays from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room. Each class is $4. Bassmasters The Canyon Lake Bassmasters have meetings at Pepe’s Restaurant on the first Wednesday of each month and hold a tournament on the following Saturday. They also hold six team tournaments per year, which are open to all residents of Canyon Lake. The club is active in many community events and hosts the annual “Kids Fishing Derby” each August. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the general meeting at 6:30 p.m. Learn about upcoming events, listen to guest speakers and share automotive experiences. CLAWS All Canyon Lake women are invited to attend the Canyon Lake Association of Women’s Group (CLAWS) Bunco on the second Wednesday of the month. Bible Fellowship The Canyon Lake Bible Fellowship is open to anyone looking for a place to enjoy Christian fellowship in a warm, friendly environment. It meets every Thursday at 7 p.m. at the home of Steve and Ruth Martin, 23409 Silver Strike Dr. in Canyon Lake. Meetings open with songs of praise and worship and each week Pastor Rick Schutee goes through a chapter of the Bible to understand its meaning. The club has been involved with many outreach opportunities inside and outside the community. Its goal is to come together in fellowship and restore hope through God’s word. All are welcomed. Canyon Lake seniors are welcome to come and get some exercise while playing this energetic game. The game is played using a beach ball and a slightly lowered net while players are seated. “Its amazing the fun you can have while burning those extra calories,” says spokesperson Pat Engelhardt.
