POA Notes Personnel changes Community Relations Manager Laurie Owen reports that, effective January 22, Kathie Barnes is serving as the Member Services Administrator in a four-month temporary assignment during Lynn Jensen’s leave of absence. Kathie brings with her 22 years of knowledge and work experience with the POA. In her responsibilities as Events Coordinator, Kathie will continue to oversee event coordination and scheduling for parks, Gault Field, the Senior Center and the POA Administration building. Rockelle Rogers is overseeing event coordination for the Country Club and Val Grillo is overseeing event coordination for the Lodge. Traffic school The next POA traffic school will be held Wednesday, March 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Towne Center Conference Room. The fee is $25 for those with moving violation citations; free to those who are coming for educational purposes only. Teens learning to drive also are welcome to attend free of charge. Signups for the class need to be done at the Member Services desk prior to the class. The instructor is Don Duncan, a driving school teacher. The Board approved the establishment of a traffic school as part of the appeals process in order to allow for a fine reduction for members who take a class and learn about the Association’s driving rules. The traffic school is for those appealing traffic tickets served inside the private community. Traffic school is allowed once every 18 months per individual – not per lot. Quagga risk assessment Members interested in reviewing the “Risk Assessment and Response Plan for Zebra Mussels and Quagga Mussels in Lake Elsinore and Canyon Lake,” submitted by invasive mussel specialist Michael A. Anderson, are encouraged to log on to www.canyonlakepoa.com and click on “Important Notices.” Appealing? Those waiting to appear before the Appeals Committee are reminded that they will be notified by mail as to the date they are to attend their hearing. Some people have been showing up at committee meetings not realizing that their cases will not be heard until they receive a notice in the mail, according to Member Services. In addition, to be heard by the Appeals Committee, the Prime Member or another person on the property’s title must appear. If a guest or renter wants to appear, he or she may do so, but must be accompanied by the property owner as well. Sign-in for Appeals Hearings take place at 5 p.m. for hearings that will begin at 5:30. ACH program Canyon Lakers are reminded that they can sign up for an automatic monthly withdrawal program to pay their assessments. Sign up at the Administration Office. Rules and Regulations The 2009 Canyon Lake Property Owners Association Rules and Regulations and Governing Documents can be picked up at the Member Services desk or can be accessed 24/7 on the Association’s website at www.canyonlakepoa.com. Spelling, please Canyon Lakers should be prepared to spell the last and first names of their guests when they call them in to the POA. According to Member Services, even if a person’s name is one letter off, it could mean they will not come up on the computer at the gate. Booking amenities Information for booking rooms and other amenities can be found on the “Amenities and Activities” link at www.canyonlake poa.com. Some of the parks also have facilities that can be reserved. CLPOA confidentiality Members occasionally request information from the Association regarding other members. The Association generally considers its information regarding individual members’ personal data, assessment accounts, alleged rule violations, Association enforcement actions and similar to be matters between the Association and the individual member(s). Other information may be subject to the Association’s attorney client privilege or attorney work product protection. Accordingly, the Association generally refuses to disclose such information to third parties, including other members, unless the disclosure is needed for the Association’s purposes. Examples of disclosure for Association purposes include the Association’s court filings and proceedings, lien recordation, Board, committee or staff reviews, conduct of disciplinary hearings and judgment/assessment collection. Other disclosures may be required by law or by court order. Member cooperation and understanding of the Association’s efforts to maintain the privacy of Association information regarding members is appreciated. Tee times Residents wanting to reserve a Saturday tee time may call the Golf Shop at 246-1782 after 6:45 a.m. seven days in advance. Members wishing to play in the “Early Birds” game on Saturday need to sign up by Wednesday. You’re responsible! According to access control rule 3.205, “the Prime Member is responsible for the actions of his/her family, guests, renters and lessees and for any charges, fines or other liabilities incurred by them.” Rent a dock There are openings at the marina at the Lodge. The annual fee is prorated. To reserve a dock now, call the Accounting Department at 244-6841, ext. 234. Nuisance rule The POA is enforcing the nuisance rules as they relate to loud and offensive music on the Lake and other POA common facilities. “Use of offensive language” in a common area is one of the prohibited activities under Rule 13 of Section II, General Rules. Playing such offensive language in recorded music at a POA common area, park or on the Lake is a “use” of that language that qualifies as a nuisance, according to the Board and is subject to citation under the rules. Street sweeper Residents with questions regarding the community’s street sweeper can contact Interstate Sweeping Services at 800-310-3002. According to the Operations Department, the company is very responsive to its customers and good about returning calls. |
