Letter: Tea Party Editor, The Friday Flyer: It has come to our attention that the Tea Party that was planned for July 4 at the Main Gate has been canceled. We are very sorry to read it was not approved by the Association. The reasons seem rather weak. The Association wanted longer notice? What for? How long does it take to get a few people together? The Association didn’t think it was a good idea because the traffic is heavy on the 4th? What better way to calm the traffic that is often raving mad because it takes so long to get in the gate on a holiday than to have patriotic music and friendly people greeting them? We know many of the people who planned this event and they are all calm and rational people who love this country and wouldn’t do anything disruptive. It is interesting that 1,300 other cities have planned Tea Parties around the country to support our constitution that is being whittled away daily, but we can’t have one in the small little City of Canyon Lake. Such a shame. Jack and Ann Custer |
