Spotlight on Seniors: Aubrey Zenteno

For Aubrey Zenteno, attaining the highest levels of achievement is important not only academically but spiritually as well. The Elsinore High School valedictorian is thankful for the support system she has through her church, school and family. She says, with their support, she was in the Top 100 all four years, was a scholar athlete, captain of the varsity tennis team, played varsity tennis for three years and junior varsity during her freshman year. She also was the National Honor Society president and Class of 2009 valedictorian.
Her accomplishments resulted in community recognition as well as scholarships. She was honored by the Lake Elsinore Valley Chamber of Commerce as Student of the Month for January 2009. Canyon Lake clubs also acknowledged her hard work, and she received scholarships from the Woman’s Club and the Jr. Women’s Club. Aubrey was recognized at Elsinore High School in tennis as Most Helpful Team Leader, was named Outstanding Female Senior for the class of 2009 and received a valedictorian scholarship.
She was also involved in helping other students through the Magnet Mentor program and tutored students during her freshman year. She made fleece blankets for a children’s hospital through Magnet, tutored freshman students through AVID, helped to establish and operate the Tiger Student Store during her senior year and spent several other eight-hour days there during the summer and on weekends.
Aubrey is the daughter of Daniel Zenteno and Kimberly Zingali. Her mother and stepfather, Michael Zingali, moved to Canyon Lake in 1996. She has lived in Canyon Lake for most her life and has been involved in activities such as the Jr. Golf Clinic, the Jr. Women’s Club Easter Carnival and equestrian lessons when she was young.
In addition to attending church twice a week, she has also been involved in Student Venture Christian Club, babysitting and donates blood through Lifestream Bank. Aubrey attends Calvary Chapel Canyon Hills and says, “Pastor Josh Black, his wife and the rest of the church members have supported me and cared for me, lifting me higher in my walk with God and blessing me with fellowship. God has blessed me with His salvation, love, grace, a wonderful family and support system through church and school.”
Aubrey received an academic scholarship from Biola University, where she will major in English, with a minor in Bible Studies.
