Chamber golf tournament organizer Paul Chenette announces one of several awards to participating golfers during the banquet that followed a full day of 18-hole play.
 
Chamber Notes: Tourney raises more than $6,000 for Jr. Golf

     The Chamber of Commerce’s 12th annual Ray Chenette Golf Tournament was a success, according to tournament chairman Paul Chenette, who says the event raised in excess of $6,000 for August’s Canyon Lake Jr. Golf Clinic.
     A field of 19 teams vied for first place in the 18-hole tournament, with the foursome of Travis Inchcliff, Rod Bassett, Phil Garcia and Charlie Morito taking the win, while the fathers/sons foursome of Brian and Mike Higelmire and Chad and Alan Russell were awarded the Most Honest Group plaque.
     Teams representing the City of Canyon Lake, the POA and the Chamber again competed for bragging rights in the annual grudge match, with the POA winning the trophy by a single stroke over the Chamber.
     Sponsorship turnout was high as well, with the Chamber thanking the following businesses and individuals for their support:

July luncheon
     The Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce regular monthly luncheon will be held next Wednesday, July 8, at 11:30 a.m. in the banquet room of Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant. The guest speaker will be Riverside County Fire Chief John Hawkins.
     The cost of the luncheon is $13 and is open to everyone; however, reservations are required and must be made no later than Monday, July 6. For more information regarding the Chamber or to make a reservation for the monthly lunch, please call 244-6124.

Chamber cruise
     The Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce is planning its 16th annual Chamber Group fundraiser and invites residents to join. Chamber membership is not required.The Baja Mexico cruise to Cabo San Lucas aboard the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s “Radiance of the Seas” will set sail from San Diego on Friday, October 9, and return on Wednesday, October 14. Rates for the trip are $450 per person for inside cabins, $545 per person for outside cabins and $646 per person for balcony cabins. A $150 deposit is required, of which $30 is non-refundable. Free bus transportation will be provided.
     Final payment for the cruise is due by Friday, July 17; reservations may also be accepted after July 17 based on availability. For more information, please contact Canyon Lake Travel at 244-1831 or via e-mail at clt@cltravel.com.

July mixer
     Scott Business Service and Amato’s Restaurant will jointly host this month’s mixer, scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, at 5:30 p.m. and will be held outdoors in the grassy area behind Amato’s and in front of Scott Business Service. Everyone is invited to stop by to meet local business owners, network or just enjoy the fun. Businesses are encouraged to bring door prizes to the mixers as a great way to get recognition in the community.

Fly those flags!
     The Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce encourages business owners in the Towne Center to fly the American flag and thanks those who already do so each day their business is open. In addition to the flags that fly at the Chamber office, the POA, City Hall and Pack Wrap and Post, those businesses include Pac West Financial, Manny’s Dry Cleaners, Auto Care USA, Prudential Realty, Rock It Taco, Canyon Lake Optometry, Oak Tree Realty, Canyon Car Company, So Cal Exchange, Edward Jones, European Carpets and TLS Transportation. Business owners who contact the Chamber office when they purchase and fly a flag will be recognized in the monthly Chamber newsletter, on the Chamber web site and in the Chamber News section of The Friday Flyer.
