Club News Woman’s Club The December meeting of the Canyon Lake Woman’s Club will be held Wednesday, December 16, at 10 a.m., at the Lodge. The program will feature the annual Christmas Luncheon with a sing-a-long and ornament gift exchange. Members and guests who would like to participate are asked to bring a new wrapped ornament at a value of $10 to $15. The menu for December is a baked potato bar, rolls and butter, a dessert selection and coffee, tea or iced tea. The price is $13 per person. Checks or exact change are preferred. Reservations are open for both members and guests. The cost is $45 for members and $50 for guests. Reservations today. A trip, with lunch, to the Nethercutt Museum and the Guide Dogs has been arranged for February 25, 2010. Reservations for members are now open and will open for guests on December 14. Motorcycle Club The Canyon Lake Motorcyle Club will be conducting another animal supply drive before the end of the year for the Animal Friends of the Valley. Those interested in donating can start gathering donations, especially kitty litter, new carpet remnants and dry or canned cat and dog food. Pet toys also are welcomed. There are several upcoming runs. The Indio International Tamale Festival ride is on Sunday, December 6. The Loma Linda Children’s Hospital Toy Run is on Sunday, December 20; check-in is from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Quaid Harley Davidson in Loma Linda. The ride starts at 1:30 p.m. The entry fee is $10, plus a new unwrapped toy. For more information contact President Larry Neigel at 244-7072 Cotillion The annual semi-formal Holiday Dinner-Dance will be held December 18. Live music will be provided by the Milt Rasmussen Band. Parents and grandparents are invited to dress up for the special night and join the group at 8:45 p.m. for an opportunity to dance with their children. For more information, call Ed Strong at 244-4500. Bible Fellowship The Canyon Lake Bible Fellowship is a Christian-based, non-denominational club. Steve and Ruth Martin host meetings every Thursday at 7 p.m. at their home, 23409 Silver Strike Dr. in Canyon Lake. The club is planning a Christmas Special on Thursday, December 17, at 7 p.m., at the Lodge. It will include live Christmas music, carolers and an inspirational message of Christ’s miraculous birth. Refreshments will be served afterwards. The Bible Fellowship is open to anyone looking for a place to enjoy Christian fellowship in a warm, friendly environment. The Martins promise to make sure guests feel welcomed, comfortable and blessed. Photography Club The Photography Club will not be meeting in December. The next meeting will be on January 14 at 7 p.m. The theme will be “Black and White” and all members are encouraged to provide their favorite black and white photos. Photography Club meetings are held the second Thursday of each month. Beginning with the January meeting, the new meeting time will be 7 p.m. downstairs at the Lodge. Family Golf Club The Family Golf Club holds open meetings the third Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the Country Club. Niners Golf Club Canyon Lake women are invited to join the group in playing nine holes-only on Thursday mornings. At its January 7 meeting, artist Elin Pendleton will be the guest demonstrator. She is a former president of the club and her work can be found at www.elinart.com. The Art Association meets on the first Thursday of every month in the City Multi-purpose Room from 7 to 9 p.m.; meetings are open to all residents. Chair Volleyball The Chair Volleyball Club for seniors meets every Tuesday and Friday at 9:45 a.m. in the Holiday Bay Room. The game is played using a beach ball and a slightly lowered net while players are seated. All seniors are welcome to join this fun-loving group for an hour of exercise and friendship. Bassmasters The Canyon Lake Bassmasters meet on the first Wednesday of each month at Pepe’s Restaurant and hold a tournament on the following Saturday. They also hold six team tournaments per year, which are open to all residents of Canyon Lake. The club is active in many community events and hosts the annual “Kids Fishing Derby” each August. Those interested in learning more about Bass Fishing and low-pressure competition may call President Jon Evans at 244-5948. The club also sponsors a Junior Bassmasters club. For more information contact Sal Gervasi at 244-3294. Twirlers The Twirlers Square Dance Club’s beginner class is held on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. at the Lodge. The minimum age for children is 10, or 3rd grade level. A plus-level workshop is held from 6:15 to 7 p.m. and a dance-level workshop is held from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Regular club dances are held on the second Sunday of each month. A beginner line dance class is held Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the City Multi-purpose Room, led by Diana Gallagher; all ages are welcome. A beginning to intermediate line dance class is offered Wednesdays from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room. Yacht Club Meetings of the Yacht Club are held on the fourth Thursday of the month. Boat ownership is not a criteria for membership. Pinochle Club New members are welcomed to join the Pinochle Club, which plays every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Towne Center Conference Room. Bosom Buddies The Bosom Buddies mission is to educate, inspire and support newly diagnosed breast cancer patients during their breast cancer journey. Lions Club Lions, along with the Lioness, are members of the largest service organization in the world. Lions Clubs International recently partnered with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Lions Club International and its network of 44,000 clubs in 205 countries have long provided relief to victims of natural disasters. Women’s Golf Club The annual Christmas Tournament and 2010 Board of Directors Installation is scheduled for Tuesday, December 15. The 9-hole shotgun tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. Golfers may pick their own six-some to play in this scramble format. Immediately following golf, everyone will gather at the Lodge for a delightful luncheon, annual awards presentations, raffle prizes, money tree and the installation of the 2010 Board of Directors. It is customary for the individual teams to donate drawing prizes, usually in the form of gift baskets, to help defray expenses and make the celebration even more special. The entry fee is $35 per person. For those individuals wanting to attend the lunch only, the cost is $20. Those not participating in the tournament are invited to join the festivities at approximately 11:30 a.m. at the lodge. The sign-up sheet is on the cabinet adjacent to the Pro Shop.
