Letter: Dangerous bus stop

     Editor, The Friday Flyer:
I have an issue with the school bus stop located at the corner of Vacation Dr. and Compass Dr. It seems that after SoCal Edison completed its north side of Compass Dr. conduit and electrical line replacement about two years ago, water has been coming out of the new transformer box located on the vacant lot at a Lake Elsinore school bus stop.
The water is coming from an aquifer under Yellow Gold and Compass that is at its highest during the winter months. The newly replaced conduit allows the ground water to come into the pipe at various points and run downhill, eventually flowing out of the transformer box when it’s full.
I brought this issue up to the SoCal Edison contractor supervisor. He informed me if/when the transformer inside blows, the existing water in the transformer box and in the surrounding areas will become charged, even for a split second, causing electrical shock and/or death to anyone in the surrounding water/wet ground around this box.
I spoke with several school bus drivers about this issue and they informed me this has to be addressed, not only for the constant mud/algae/water issues, but for the potential electrical shock hazard it allows. This needs to be addressed – not only for the safety of our school kids, but for the potential lawsuit and/or the bad publicity associated with this hazard/potential death.
