Announcement: Titans wrestlers take lead in Southwestern League

     The Temescal Canyon Varsity Wrestling team beat Vista Murrieta in the first league match of the season 55-21 on January 8.  This is the first time in three years Temescal Canyon has beat Vista Murrieta. Temescal Canyon is 13-1 for the season, 2-0 and tied for first place in the Southwestern League. The excitement of the night was when the 4.5 earthquake hit, just after Sheldon Reams finished his pin and before Allen Chu defeated his challenger, according to Karen Reams who says, “The stands were sure rumbling on the Titan side that night!”
     The Varsity team members who had pins for the night include Sheldon Reams, 135; Allen Chu, 140; Ryan Allard, 145; Joe Tweedy, 152; Ryan Hayinsky, 160; Ryan Collins, 189; Chris Thatcher, 215; and Philip White, Heavy Weight.
     The Titans JV Team also beat Vista Murrieta with a score of 51-18. The freshman team had its first loss to Vista Murrieta, 22-60.
     On January 15, TCHS Varsity beat Temecula Great Oak 67-9. The Varsity players who had pins for the night included Ben Lovitt, 203; Brett Henderson, 119; Joe Harris, 125; Scott Crepeu, 130; Allen Chu, 135; Andre Chu, 140; Ryan Hazinski, 160; Ryan Collins, 189; and Chris Thatcher, 215.
     Coach Collins says,  “Our varsity team is off to one of its best starts in years with a 13-1 record and two consecutive top tens in major tournaments (10th at El Cajon and 8th at Riverside County). Our goal is to finish in the top two in the Southwestern League and qualify for the Division I dual meet championships.”
