Letter: Supports Sky Blue's request

     Editor, The Friday Flyer:
Impressive! That is the word that came to mind as I read the letter from Mr. Carlton of Sky Blue Investments regarding their proposal to the POA Board. I can’t imagine anyone not agreeing with the conclusion that, without some type of revenue generating development, the City of Canyon Lake’s future is dismal. It’s just logical.
Most people don’t really comprehend the workings of a City and I don’t exactly understand all of it – but I do understand one very simple fact: if there is no money to pay for the services of the City and the City continues to either go into debt to pay for services or declares bankruptcy at some future date, the residents of Canyon Lake are going to foot the bill.
At some point we could and probably will become part of Lake Elsinore and, as one reader said, I doubt the City fathers of Lake Elsinore are going to spend much of their budget to maintain our amenities or protect our Lake rights in the future.
I have to ask myself, why is there so much anguish over commercial development? Are the few who oppose this development so out of touch, they really don’t understand the importance of this type of development to the future of our City and maybe our POA?
We all must agree that these owners have the right to develop their property. Why in the world would we prefer 16 more homes that will do very little to address our revenue shortfall, when we could have both commercial and the homes?
As I understand it, if the developer builds the commercial, they will then proceed to complete the 16 home sites. What’s wrong with that?
Let me put this simply. It appears the developer is going to develop this property. If we are going to put up with the inconvenience of construction anyway, let’s make it worth it. Let’s tell the Board that they need to allow this group to go ahead with the commercial and subsequent residential development, which will bring prosperity and strength to our City and our POA.
I fully support the developers’ request and invite all my fellow residents to join me by letting the Board know we want them to approve the request before them.
