POA Notes

Street sweeping next week
Residents are asked to not park their cars on the street the day the street sweeper, Interstate Sweeping Services, is scheduled to clean. The street sweeper is in the community the second and fourth week of each month, with sweeping taking place Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This month, streets will be cleaned on February 13, 14, 15, 27, 28 and 29.
Scheduled for cleaning next Wednesday are Vacation Dr. and Longhorn Dr. and all their arteries from Canyon Lake Dr. North to the Campground. This includes Cove View St.
Scheduled for cleaning on Thursday are Canyon Lake Dr. North and all its arteries, and part of Canyon Lake Dr. South and arteries on the Golf Course side of the road from the Main Causeway to and including Calcutta Dr.
Scheduled for cleaning Friday are all the streets in the Fairway Estates, as well as Blackhorse Dr. and Sorrel Ln. in the Canyon Lake Estates. Also cleaned on Fridays are Canyon Lake Dr. South and all its arteries from the Main Gate to and including Gray Fox Dr. and Continental Dr. and all their arteries.

Finance Committee reviewing budget
Canyon Lakers who are interested in learning about the POA budget are invited to attend meetings of the Finance Committee, especially over the next few weeks as the budget for fiscal year 2008-2009 is reviewed. The meetings are scheduled every Thursday morning in February at 9:30 a.m. in the Board Room. The budget recommendations are due March 6.
Committee members include James Stroffe, Gene Ferrieri, Sue Moore, Robb Smith, Barry Talbot, Dale Willingham, Director David Johnston (Board liaison) and Controller Ron Phipps.

A note to clubs
Club presidents need to submit verification their clubs are meeting the requirements to be a sanctioned club in Canyon Lake. All sanctioned clubs must meet the community service and residency standards as set forth in the rules.
In an effort to maintain current records, each club president is required to forward the name, address and phone numbers of club officers, current membership and residency location, as well as community service verification to the Canyon Lake Activities Department.
In addition, clubs should reserve facilities they will need for events in 2009. Reservations should be made no later than March 31, because on April 1, reservations will be accepted for private events.

Time to update records
Member Services is requesting that if contact information or Membership status changes have occurred, Members should update their records with the Association. “We’re cleaning house,” says Manager Lynn Jensen.

POA gift card
The POA is offering gift cards that can be used at the Country Club and Lighthouse Restaurant, as well as for services and activities provided by the POA. Gift cards are available in increments of $5 and up and can be purchased at the Member Services Counter.

Fiesta Day volunteers wanted
This year Canyon Lake will be celebrating its 40th birthday on Fiesta Day. The Fiesta Day Committee has already starting working on this special event and is looking for additional members who are interested in helping the fun, hard-working group. Those interested in lending a hand should the Activities Department at 246-1761.
2008 is going to be a wonderful, activity driven year filled with many fun events. Come out and be a part of your community.

Board meetings
The next regular Board meeting will be Tuesday, February 19, at 7 p.m. in the Board Room. It will be televised on Channel 29. Community Forum is Tuesday, March 4, at 6:30 p.m. in the Towne Center Conference Room.

Community Garden
Residents who think they would like to have a plot in the Canyon Lake Community Garden should contact Activities Manager Kathie Barnes at 244-6841, ext. 610, and make their interest known.

Appealing?
Those waiting to appear before the Appeals Committee are reminded that they will be notified by mail as to the date they are to attend their hearing. Some people have been showing up at committee meetings not realizing that their cases will not be heard until they receive a notice in the mail, according to Lynn Jensen, manager of the Member Services.
In addition, to be heard by the Appeals Committee, the prime member or another person on the property’s title must appear. If a guest or renter wants to appear, he or she may do so, but must be accompanied by the property owner as well.

You’re responsible!
According to access control rule 3.205, “the Prime Member is responsible for the actions of his/her family, guests, renters and lessees and for any charges, fines or other liabilities incurred by them.”

Marine Patrol
The Canyon Lake Marine Patrol office is manned seven days a week intermittently throughout the day. If the need for assistance arises and residents are unable to speak with a Marine Patrol officer at the regular phone number, please contact the Community Patrol dispatcher at 246-1741. The dispatcher is in radio communications with Marine Patrol at all times.

Fishing permits
The Member Services Department has made it easier for guests of residents to get fishing permits in Canyon Lake. According to Lynn Jensen, manager of the department, as long as a guest has a copy of his or her California fishing license on file with the POA, the prime or associate member can pick up the permit in advance of the guest’s arrival.

Spelling, please
Canyon Lakers should be prepared to spell the last and first names of their guests when they call them in to the POA.
According to Member Services Manager Lynn Jensen, even if a person’s name is one letter off, it could mean he or she will not come up on the computer at the gate. Residents will be asked to spell out even the simplest names.
Canyon Lakers are reminded that they are responsible for their family members and guests when they are called into the community.

Party lists
Having a wedding reception? A family get-together? An anniversary party? Don’t forget that a typed or printed guest list of names, in alphabetical order, must be turned into the POA if you’re expecting more than six people.
Lists should be submitted at least 24 hours in advance, she reminds residents. Once received, the lists must be input into the computer and forwarded to the gates. Faxing or taking in lists at least a day in ahead of time will take pressure off the clerks and will keep guests from being inconvenienced at the gates.

Nuisance rule
The POA is enforcing the nuisance rules as they relate to loud and offensive music on the lake and other POA common facilities. “Use of offensive language” in common area is one of the prohibited activities under Rule 13 of Section II, General Rules.
Playing such offensive language in recorded music at a POA common area, park or on the lake is a “use” of that language that qualifies as a nuisance, according to the Board and is subject to citation under the rules.

ACH program
Canyon Lakers are reminded that they can sign up for an automatic monthly withdrawal program to pay their assessments. Sign up at the Administration Office.
