‘Plaid Tidings’
     In its tradition of bringing family-style Christmas programs to its stage, the Welk Resort Theater is presenting “Plaid Tidings” this holiday season through December 28. The show features the plaid-clad boys of “Forever Plaid” – back to do a Christmas special that will entertain both young and old.
     In “Plaid Tidings” The boys are sent back to earth once again to stage a nostalgic holiday extravaganza for world-weary mortals on earth. Filled with Christmas standards that have been “Plaid-erized,” the boys blend their tight harmonic renditions of musical hits from the 1950s and 1960s with swing standards.
     Ticket prices range from $52 to $55 for performance only and $66 to $71 if a pre-show buffet is included. Matinee performances are every day but Monday at 1:45 p.m. Evening shows are on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Call the box office at 1-888-802-7469.

Bingo
     The Canyon Lake Lions and Lioness Clubs host Bingo the first and third Sundays of each month at 1 p.m. in the City Multi-purpose Room. The next Bingo will be this Sunday, December 7. All proceeds are donated to charities.

DAR meeting
     The Daughters of the American Revolution, Luiseno Chapter, will meet on Tuesday, December 16, at 11:30 a.m. at the Sizzler Restaurant, 40489 Murrieta Hot Springs Rd. in Murrieta. The guest speaker will be Art Rivas, Service Manager for the U.S. Vets Program at March Air Reserve Base. There will also be a Marine representative from Camp Pendleton who will speak on Toys for Tots and collect toys given by chapter members. Everyone is invited, especially those interested in tracing their heritage to ancestors of the American Revolution. Support Group
     A newly formed support group for those with peripheral neuropathy is being held regularly at the Murrieta Senior Center. Space is limited to those with the condition. For more information, contact facilitator Joan Hunt at 600-7701.

Grief Group
     Talking with others often helps relieve some of the pain that is experienced with the passing of a loved one, according to organizers of a Grief Group that meets at Shepherd of Life Lutheran Church, 30400 Grand Ave. in Lake Elsinore. Caregiver support group
     Caregiver Connection Support Group for caregivers and their patients meets at Canyon Lake Community Church on the second and fourth Mondays of each month from 10 a.m. to noon in room C5 and C6. Due to the holidays, they will meet on December 15, 22 and 29. Activities are planned for the caregiver and those for whom they are caring. For more information, contact JoAnn Wickerath at 679-7736.

Senior softball
     Softball players 55 and older are needed for a senior men’s league in Menifee. The league plays on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Wheatfield Park, next to the Menifee campus of Mt. San Jacinto Community College. For more information, call Ed Hustead at 679-8626.

Hospital volunteers needed
     Menifee Valley Medical Center is seeking volunteers. Only four hours of volunteer service per week qualifies as an active member of the hospital volunteer team. No experience is necessary; training will be provided. The minimum age for hospital volunteers is 16 years old. For more information call 679-8888, ext. 7254 or 925-6389.

Bridge Marathon
     It’s time for couples and ladies to register for the Annual Bridge Marathon, sponsored by the Woman’s Club. All games are played as foursomes in the entrants’ home, beginning in January and finishing at the end of May. Entrants will play a maximum of five times. An awards dessert will be held on June 18 at the Lodge and prizes will be awarded in all divisions.
     Newcomers to Canyon Lake are encouraged to find a partner and participate. Registration will be open until January 7; the entry fee is $10 per person. Moms in Touch
     Moms and grandmothers of middle schoolers are invited to join Moms In Touch International, which meets in Canyon Lake on Mondays at 9 a.m. The group is praying for CLMS and its students.      Senior bowlers wanted

Bosom Buddies
     Bosom Buddies is a volunteer support organization dedicated to helping women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Women receive support and resources from other breast cancer survivors. Art Walk, Cruise Night

Computer Club
     The Computer Club of Menifee Valley welcomes all who have an interest in computers. It meets at 9 a.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month and offer presentations, guest speakers, question and answer sessions, a computer lab and computer classes. Child advocates needed
     The local organization of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for children is seeking volunteers for its program. As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. No special education or background is needed – just a desire to help abused and neglected children. Volunteers must pass a background check, followed by a 30-hour training course. Donate a mammogram
     The Breast Cancer website invites people to click on its site daily so it can meet its quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to the site, www.thebreastcancersite.com and click on “donating a mammogram” for free (pink window in the middle). This doesn’t cost one a thing. Corporate sponsors /advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising.
