POA Notes

Open House
Property owners have the opportunity to meet with General Manager Clint Warrell, Controller Ron Phipps, Barton Account Manager Vince Schiavi and Operations Manager Paul Johnson, who all hold open houses in their respective offices on Wednesdays from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Community Forum
There will be no Community Forum in December as the schedule “goes dark” for Board members during the month. Also, there will not be a regular session Board meeting in December.
The next Community Forum will be January 6; the next Board meeting will be January 20.

Holiday tee times
Holiday tee times will be in effect tomorrow, November 29, Wednesday, December 24, and Saturday, December 27. The course will be closed Christmas Day. The Men’s Christmas Tournament will be held December 6; the Women’s Christmas Tournament will be held December 16.

‘Calling in’ guests
Instead of calling in guests’ names, a time-consuming process if phone lines are busy, Canyon Lake residents can now type in names on a special feature of the POA’s all new website at www.canyonlakepoa.com.
It is important to note that names for the guest list must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance in order to be processed by Member Services clerks during regular business hours. If guests are expected sooner than 24 hours, it is still necessary to call in their names at 244-6841.
However, for those who are able to plan ahead, the convenience of sending in names by computer is appreciated. The feature is on the home page; clicking on it leads users to a “clipboard” where they fill in the member’s first and last name, tract and lot, password, guest’s first and last name and a “control code” one sees on the screen; this latter feature protects the security of the site.
By using the feature, users agree to a disclaimer stating that the POA is not liable for their personal information being given to a non-authorized person. All current Rules and Regulations still apply and this form of guest call-in is treated in the same manner as the regular call-in procedure and policy.
Residents can submit the names of up to 10 guests per day. If they need to submit more names, for example, for a party, there is a place to click on “Party List.” Guest lists and party lists can be submitted only 10 days in advance. Users will see a date at the top of the clipboard that indicates how far in advance guests’ names will be processed. If they try to enter a date after that date, the names will not be processed.

Calendar
Residents are reminded they no longer have to depend on The Friday Flyer to see the POA calendar of events. When visiting www.canyonlakepoa.com, they can find the calendar at the bottom of a column of links on the lefthand side of the home page. There, they will find dates of upcoming meetings, events, classes and recreational activities. Want to know when and where a particular POA Committee is meeting? Click on the date of the meeting and the time and location of the meeting pops up.
To find out who serves on particular committees and to e-mail a committee with questions or suggestions, click on “About the POA” in the column of links on the lefthand side of the home page.

Photos wanted!
The POA is inviting residents to send in photos of Canyon Lake to publish on the website at www.canyonlakepoa.com. The goal is to add new photos each week to the home page.
Residents will be asked to fill out an image release form consenting to the use of photos for publication, display, advertising, editorial illustration, website, etc. Minors depicted in photos must be identified, with the parents or legal guardians giving their consent for the use of their images. Photos may be e-mailed to Corporate Administration Manager Laurie Owen at lowen@canyonlakepoa.com. She will provide the image release form at that time.

Booking amenities
Canyon Lakers interested in hosting a party for the holidays or other special occasion should consider using the Lodge, Country Club, Blue Bird Hall, Towne Center Conference Room or Magnolia Room. More information about these rooms can be found on the “Amenities and Activities” link at www.canyonlake poa.com. Some of the parks also have facilities that can be reserved. To book a place for your upcoming event, call Activities Manager Kathie Barnes at 244-6841, ext. 610.

Rent a dock
There are openings at the marina at the Lodge. The annual fee is $1,250, which is prorated. To reserve a dock now, call the Accounting Department at 244-6841, ext. 234.

Winter hours at the Campground
Winter hours are now in force at the Happy Camp gas dock. The gas pump is now open from 10 a.m. to noon and from 12:45 to 3 p.m. daily.

Nuisance rule
The POA is enforcing the nuisance rules as they relate to loud and offensive music on the Lake and other POA common facilities. “Use of offensive language” in a common area is one of the prohibited activities under Rule 13 of Section II, General Rules.
Playing such offensive language in recorded music at a POA common area, park or on the Lake is a “use” of that language that qualifies as a nuisance, according to the Board and is subject to citation under the rules.

Fishing permits
The Member Services Department has made it easier for guests of residents to get fishing permits in Canyon Lake. According to Lynn Jensen, manager of the department, as long as a guest has a copy of his or her California fishing license on file with the POA, the prime or associate member can pick up the permit in advance of the guest’s arrival.

You’re responsible!
According to access control rule 3.205, “the Prime Member is responsible for the actions of his/her family, guests, renters and lessees and for any charges, fines or other liabilities incurred by them.”

ACH program
Canyon Lakers are reminded that they can sign up for an automatic monthly withdrawal program to pay their assessments. Sign up at the Administration Office.

POA ID cards
Member Services is issuing new POA ID cards as needed as members come into the office. All cards will now have an expiration date, according to Member Services Manager Lynn Jensen. Prime and Associate Members’ cards will expire every four years. Children Associate Members’ cards will expire every four years or when someone turns 21, whichever occurs first. Sub-Associate/Resident Member cards will expire every year from when the membership is issued/renewed.

Spelling, please
Canyon Lakers should be prepared to spell the last and first names of their guests when they call them in to the POA. According to Member Services, even if a person’s name is one letter off, it could mean he or she will not come up on the computer at the gate. Appealing?
Those waiting to appear before the Appeals Committee are reminded that they will be notified by mail as to the date they are to attend their hearing. Some people have been showing up at committee meetings not realizing that their cases will not be heard until they receive a notice in the mail, according to Member Services.
In addition, to be heard by the Appeals Committee, the Prime Member or another person on the property’s title must appear. If a guest or renter wants to appear, he or she may do so, but must be accompanied by the property owner as well. Sign-in for Appeals Hearings take place at 5 p.m. for hearings that will begin at 5:30.

POA gift card
The POA is offering gift cards that can be used at the Country Club and Lighthouse Restaurant, as well as for services and activities provided by the POA. Gift cards are available in increments of $5 and up and can be purchased at the Member Services Counter.

Street sweeper
Residents with questions regarding the community’s street sweeper can contact Interstate Sweeping Services at 800-310-3002. According to the Operations Department, the company is very responsive to its customers and good about returning calls.
