Golf Course closed for overseeding

According to Golf Pro Dave Lindemen, the Golf Course will be closed the next three weeks, beginning Monday, September 24, for overseeding of the roughs and aeration of the greens. Dave recently attended a fall merchandise show to view new clothing and equipment lines for the upcoming season, as well as operational tools such as tee time reservations systems and point of sale software. While the Golf Course is closed, he and his staff plan to give the Golf Shop a little different look, as well as clean and organize the golf car storage area. See Country Club news in this section for new hours while the Golf Course is closed. The Tuesday Work Group (TWG) will be back on the job September 25 after its summer break. Restaurant updates

Currently the contractor, International Pavement Solutions, has completed Phase A, with half a Phase B and all of Phase C left to complete.
“The Road Project is moving along well; however, we have encountered some additional areas where we have needed to over-excavate due to water issues and install additional base in order to achieve compaction,” says Paul. Once the phases are complete the contractor will cap all three phases with asphalt and then stripe.

Community amenities
Regarding the rental dock addition at Englers’ Landing, Operations Manger Paul Johnson has sent a new design out to the contractors bidding on the project and expects to have proposals back by early November. Once he receives the bids, Paul will present this project to the Board of Directors for its consideration.
The Operations Department is working on the final building design for proposed restrooms at Roadrunner Park and will send it out to bid. Previously, Paul had the park and the sewer line depths surveyed to determine the best location for restrooms.

Yoga and Pilates
The POA sponsors two fitness classes. Yoga classes are held on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and and on Saturdays at 8 a.m. at Blue Bird Hall. Classes offer a gentle approach to yoga postures. Yoga enhances breath, balance, muscle strength, flexibility, joint mobility and inner calm.
A “Half n’ Half” class includes half Pilates exercise technique and half Yoga. The class begins with the core strengthening fundamentals of Pilates and ends with the flow of Yoga. Classes are held on Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. These classes are held at Blue Bird Hall also.

Appealing?
Those waiting to appear before the Appeals Committee are reminded that they will be notified by mail as to the date they are to attend their hearing. Some people have been showing up at committee meetings not realizing that their cases will not be heard until they receive a notice in the mail, according to Ramona Burrascano, manager of the Member Services.
In addition, to be heard by the Appeals Committee, the prime member or another person on the property’s title must appear. If a guest or renter wants to appear, he or she may do so, but must be accompanied by the property owner as well.

Saturday golf news
Residents may call up to a week in advance to reserve a spot for themselves and three guests in the Saturday morning shotgun start at 7:30 a.m., according to Golf Pro Dave Lindeman. On major holidays there is no shotgun start and tee times are available all day.

Fishing permits
The Member Services Department has made it easier for guests of residents to get fishing permits in Canyon Lake. According to Ramona Burrascano, manager of the department, as long as a guest has a copy of his or her California fishing license on file with the POA, the prime or associate member can pick up the permit in advance of the guest’s arrival.New banquet menus
Food and Beverage Manager Loretta Dudziak announces there are new banquet menus serving the Lighthouse Restaurant and Country Club venues.

You’re responsible!
According to access control rule 3.205, “the prime member is responsible for the actions of his/her family, guests, renters and lessees and for any charges, fines or other liabilities incurred by them.”

Member Services hours
The Member Services Counter is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Show ID cards
Because the Lodge is a private facility and, therefore, has a private club license from the Alcohol Beverage Commission, the bar could lose its license if it doesn’t follow specific regulations. Because of this, all homeowners and their guests will be asked to show their POA identification cards when ordering alcoholic drinks at the Lodge. In addition, guests will not be able to order drinks without a homeowner present. This is an ABC rule.

Special events
Having a wedding reception? A family get-together? An anniversary party? Don’t forget that a typed or printed guest list of names, in alphabetical order, must be turned into the POA if you’re expecting more than six people.
Lists should be submitted at least 24 hours in advance, she reminds residents. Once received, the lists must be input into the computer and forwarded to the gates.
Faxing or taking in lists at least a day in ahead of time will take pressure off the clerks and will keep guests from being inconvenienced at the gates.

Spelling, please
Canyon Lakers are asked to be prepared to spell the last and first names of their guests when they call them in to the POA. According to Member Services Manager Ramona Burrascano, even if a person’s name is one letter off, it could mean he or she will not come up on the computer at the gate. Residents will be asked to spell out even the simplest names.
Canyon Lakers are reminded that they are responsible for their family members and guests when they are called into the community.

POA website
There are many interesting features at www.canyonlakepoa.com. Those who want to visit must be members of the Association. They will be asked to set up a user’s name and pass word and there is a 24-hour turn-around to log in the first time. (Longer if logging in over the weekend.)
Once online, members can not only receive documents, forms and other POA information, but they also can post garage sale information, share hobby information and find out more about their neighbors.
Clubs that have websites are invited to link them to the POA site. The Member Services Department continues to add more information to the site, according to Ramona Burrascano, manager.

Fishing permits
The Member Services Department has made it easier for guests of residents to get fishing permits in Canyon Lake. According to Ramona Burrascano, manager of the department, as long as a guest has a copy of his or her California fishing license on file with the POA, the prime or associate member can pick up the permit in advance of the guest’s arrival.

Gas dock hours
Hours at the Campground gas dock are now 9 a.m. to noon and 12:45 to 4:30 p.m., according to Dwight Cogdill, Campground Manager.

Nuisance rule
The POA is enforcing the nuisance rules as they relate to loud and offensive music on the lake and other POA common facilities. “Use of offensive language” in common area is one of the prohibited activities under Rule 13 of Section II, General Rules.
Playing such offensive language in recorded music at a POA common area, park or on the lake is a “use” of that language that qualifies as a nuisance, according to the Board and is subject to citation under the rules.

Open house
Property owners have the opportunity to meet with General Manager Clint Warrell, Controller Ron Phipps, Bartons Account Manager Vince Schiavi and Operations Manager Paul Johnson, who all hold open houses in their respective offices on Wednesdays from 2 to 4 p.m. Property owners who want to stop by the Administrative Office in the Towne Center with comments, suggestions or complaints for Clint, Vince or Ron are welcomed to do so. Paul holds his open house at his office in the Operations Department near the North Gate.

Street sweeper
Residents with questions regarding the community’s street sweeper can contact Interstate Sweeping Services at (800) 310-3002. According to the Operations Department, the company is very responsive to its customers and good about returning calls.

ACH program
Canyon Lakers are reminded that they can sign up for an automatic monthly withdrawal program to pay their assessments. Sign up at the Administration Office.

Marine Patrol
The Canyon Lake Marine Patrol office is manned seven days a week intermittently throughout the day. If the need for assistance arises and residents are unable to speak with a Marine Patrol officer at the regular phone number, please contact the Community Patrol dispatcher at 246-1741. The dispatcher is in radio communications with Marine Patrol at all times.
