Bone marrow drive will be held in Canyon Lake

Pam Malcolmson says her grandson, Trevor Kott, is not doing well and desperately needs a bone marrow transplant. As a result, she implores her Canyon Lake neighbors to join the national bone marrow registry to see if anyone here could be a possible bone marrow donor.
To make it as easy as possible to register, the Canyon Lake Lioness Club is sponsoring a Bone Marrow Drive right here in Canyon Lake.
It will be held Wednesday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Town Center Conference Room (POA building) in the Towne Center. You must be age 18 to 60 and in good health. Joining the registry involves a simple procedure in which the inside of one’s cheek is swabbed for cells. The cost is normally $52, but because of a foundation called “Thanks Mom,” the procedure will be free for Canyon Lakers.
If it is determined someone is a match for Trevor, the medical costs of donating bone marrow would be covered by the Kotts’ insurance and other sources.
As noted in a previous article about Pam and Trevor, Trevor’s doctors have given the six-month-old little chance to survive without a bone marrow transplant. The family is desperate.
For more information about Trevor, call Pam at 244-2926. For information about what is involved in being a bone marrow donor, go to www.marrow.org.
