POA Notes

Show those cards
Because the Lodge is a private facility and, therefore, has a private club license from the Alcohol Beverage Commission, the bar could lose its license if it doesn’t follow specific regulations. Because of this, all homeowners and their guests will be asked to show their POA identification cards when ordering alcoholic drinks at the Lodge. In addition, guests will not be able to order drinks without a homeowner present.
Food and Beverage Director Loretta Dudziak says she appreciates residents’ cooperation in following this ABC rule.

No parking
Canyon Lakers are asked not to park in front of vacant lots while the weed abatement program is underway.

Water aerobics
According to Pool Superintendent Val Grillo, two water aerobics classes are being held each morning – one at 8 a.m. and one at 9 a.m. The popular classes also take place on Saturdays at 8 a.m.
The low-impact water exercise classes also are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m.

Country Club open six nights
The restaurant is open six nights a week. Dinner hours Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays are 5 to 8 p.m. Monday features a pasta bar from 5 to 8 p.m. Hours each Friday night are 5 to 9 p.m, with entertainment from 7 to 10. This week’s music will be provided by JC of DJ Company. Loretta Dudziak invites Canyon Lakers to bring the kids to the Sunday Brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a breakfast and lunch buffet. Chef Joe will make your special omelette, plus baron of beef, eggs benedict, fresh fruit trays, salads, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy and more. All this for $10.95 for adults and $5.95 for children.

Special events
Having a wedding reception? A family get-together? An anniversary party? Don’t forget that a typed or printed guest list of name must be turned into the POA if you’re expecting more than six people.
Lists should be submitted at least 24 hours in advance, she reminds residents. Once received, the lists must be input into the computer and forwarded to the gates.
Faxing or taking in lists at least a day in ahead of time will take pressure off the clerks and will keep guests from being inconvenienced at the gates.

Brunch at the Lighthouse
Canyon Lakers will be glad to hear that the price of Sunday Brunch at the Lighthouse has been reduced to $16.95. There is still the same great variety and wonderful atmosphere, according to Food and Beverage Director Loretta Dudziak. Loretta also reminds Canyon Lake residents that Michael Britton is on hand to provide entertainment each Friday and Saturday night from 7 to 10 p.m.

Help wanted
Canyon Lakers are being sought to serve on the POA’s Finance Committee, the Facilities Review Committee, the Fairway Estates Committee, the Parks and Beaches Committee, the Long Range Planning Committee and the Lake and Marina Committee. Applications are available in the POA office.
     Member Services hours
The Member Services Counter is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

Gas dock hours
Boaters can now purchase gas at the Campground’s gas docks from 9 a.m. noon and from 12:45 to 4:30 p.m. daily.

Tee times
Golf Pro Dave Lindeman reminds Canyon Lakers that golfers can call in at 6:45 a.m. year-round to reserve tee time on the course.

Street sweeper
Residents with questions regarding the community’s street sweeper can contact Interstate Sweeping Services at (800) 310-3002. The firm sweeps each Canyon Lake street every other week.
According to the Operations Department, the company is very responsive to its customers and good about returning calls.

Marine Patrol
The Canyon Lake Marine Patrol office is manned seven days a week intermittently throughout the day. If the need for assistance arises and residents are unable to speak with a Marine Patrol officer at the regular phone number, please contact the Community Patrol dispatcher at 246-1741. The dispatcher is in radio communications with Marine Patrol at all times.

Fishing permits
The Member Services Department has made it easier for guests of residents to get fishing permits in Canyon Lake. According to Ramona Burrascano, manager of the department, as long as a guest has a copy of his or her California fishing license on file with the POA, the prime or associate member can pick up the permit in advance of the guest’s arrival.

Feedback hotline
In an effort to provide better service to the membership of Canyon Lake, as well as to monitor the level of service provided by various departments within the Association-POA management has instituted a quality assurance program. Among the areas to be monitored are phone etiquette, guest call-ins, general information requests, membership service, member counter operations, accounting inquiries, correspondence follow up, facilities inspections, phone administration, dining experience, food quality and special events. A hotline has been established so Canyon Lakers can call with their concerns or comments in these various areas. Callers should dial 244-6841, Ext. 800, to leave their names, phone numbers and tract and lot numbers. Calls will be returned in a timely manner.

ACH program
Canyon Lakers are reminded that they can sign up for an automatic monthly withdrawal program to pay their assessments. Just drop by the Administration Office and sign up.

Appealing?
Those waiting to appear before the Appeals Committee are reminded that they will be notified by mail as to the date they are to attend their hearing. Some people have been showing up at committee meetings not realizing that their cases will not be heard until they receive a notice in the mail, according to Ramona Burrascano, manager of the Member Services
In addition, to be heard by the Appeals Committee, the prime member or another person on the property’s title must appear. If a guest or renter wants to appear, he or she may do so, but must be accompanied by the property owner as well.

Spelling, please
Canyon Lakers are asked to be prepared to spell the last and first names of their guests when they call them in to the POA. According to Member Services Manager Ramona Burrascano, even if a person’s name is one letter off, it could mean he or she will not come up on the computer at the gate.
Residents will be asked to spell out even the simplest names.

You’re responsible!
Canyon Lakers are reminded that they are responsible for their family members and guests when they are called into the community. According to access control rule 3.205, “the prime member is responsible for the actions of his/her family, guests, renters and lessees and for any charges, fines or other liabilities incurred by them.”

Pass codes
Those who would like to change their pass codes for any reason may do so, according to Member Services Manager Ramona Burrascano. The only requirement is that the person dropping by the office to make the request must be on the title to the property, she says.

POA website
There are many interesting features at www.canyonlakepoa.com. Those who want to visit must be members of the Association. They will be asked to set up a user’s name and pass word and there is a 24-hour turn-around to log in the first time. (Longer if logging in over the weekend.)
Once online, members can not only receive documents, forms and other POA information, but they also can post garage sale information, share hobby information and find out more about their neighbors.
Clubs that have websites are invited to link them to the new POA site.
The Member Services Department continues to add more information to the site, according to Ramona Burrascano, manager.

Open house
Property owners have the opportunity to meet with General Manager Clint Warrell, Controller Ron Phipps, Bartons Account Manager Vince Schiavi and Operations Manager Paul Johnson, who all hold open houses in their respective offices on Wednesdays from 2 to 4 p.m. Property owners who want to stop by the Administrative Office in the Towne Center with comments, suggestions or complaints for Clint, Vince or Ron are welcomed to do so. Paul holds his open house at his office in the Operations Department near the North Gate.
