Sewing Club
Women who enjoy sewing are invited to take their sewing machines to the Senior Center on the second and fourth Wednesday mornings of each month. Kathy Barbay has organized the group and says that women can work on individual projects or share patterns to work on a mutual project. The room is reserved for the sewing club from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., so those who want to participate are invited to come early and stay as long as they’d like.

Mexican Train
Each Wednesday a group of people meet at the Senior Center from 6 to 9 p.m. to enjoy Mexican Train. Anyone interested in playing or learning to play is welcome to join.
Participants are asked to bring their own beverages and snacks. For more information, call Dorothy Metcalf at 244-9372.

Dancercize
Dancercize is a low-impact exercise class that meets at the Senior Center on Thursdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and involves easy stretching exercises starting with upper body, then floor exercises and finally a half hour of line dancing.
The four instructors, who take turns conducting the class, include Darryl Schwarz, B.J. Simpson, Serita Moore and Margene Ziff. There is no charge for the class, and all that is needed is a floor mat.

Canasta
There is a group of seniors who meet each Tuesday from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Senior Center to play Canasta. Drop by or call Peggy Pheilstrecker at 244-5675.

Got ideas?
The Senior Committee is looking for individuals with talents or interests to help plan more activities for the Senior Center. Anyone who has an interest in getting something started is invited to attend the Senior Committee’s Activities Meeting in the Senior Center on the first Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m.. Call Kathie Barnes at 244-6841, ext. 610.

Potluck and Politics
Canyon Lake seniors are invited to stay informed and to keep abreast of POA issues by attending “Potluck and Politics,” held the third Tuesday of each month. Getting together for a potluck dinner at 5 p.m., the evening centers around the POA Board of Directors meeting, which begins at 7. The next meeting is Tuesday, June 20. Those who prefer to bypass the “politics” portion of the evening are invited to drop by for the food and conversation.
