“EZ Oil Painting” promises that students will discover the joy of painting, according to instructor Rita Forand, who says they will go home with a finished painting in just one three-hour session, to be held at Blue Bird Hall. Rita, a Canyon Lake resident, is a Bob Ross certified instructor. Those who are familiar with PBS have probably seen Bob Ross and his television shows during which he demonstrates how to complete a painting in just a half hour, using limited supplies and, sometimes, one brush. Students should come to the class wearing old clothes and will take home their own 16-inch by 20-inch finished oil painting. Fee for the class is $60, which includes all the supplies needed for the painting. Students need bring nothing to class. “There is nothing for the student to set up or clean up,” says Rita. “Just come and have fun.” There will be two classes offered on two different dates this summer. The first will be held Sunday, July 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Blue Bird Hall. At that class, students will be taught how to paint a mountain scene. On Wednesday, August 23, two classes will be held – one from 9 a.m. to noon and the other that evening from 6:30 to 9:30. In each of these sessions, students will paint a landscape.
