Since it’s one of the biggest and most celebrated days in the year for Canyon Lakers, the POA is asking residents to think ahead to make the holiday a happy and safe one for homeowners and guests alike. Those wanting to make reservations at the Campground for the 4th of July weekend may do so starting at 6 a.m. next Tuesday, June 20. There will be a three-day minimum, and reservations will be made for a specific space. Payment must be made in full at the time reservations are made. For those wanting to enjoy the day at Holiday Harbor, residents are reminded of the POA policy that authorizes the Recreation Department to hold a lottery to assign the tables at the popular park for the holiday. Property owners can sign up for the lottery June 24, in the POA Board Room. Members should arrive between 8 and 9 a.m., at which time they will be given a lottery number drawn from a pool of random numbers. One number will be allowed per tract and lot. Only prime and associate members in good standing as determined by POA policy – or an authorized representative with a letter signed by the prime member – will be eligible to participate in the drawing. The numbers will be drawn and read aloud by Recreation Department staff members beginning promptly at 9 a.m. As each number is drawn, the member will select a single table from a diagram of the park, which will reflect the current location of tables for property owner use. Subsequent numbers will be drawn until all available tables are awarded. The table sites will be for use by the chosen property owners for single day use only. Each member will be give a slip showing the table is reserved for him or her. The Operations Department will put reserved signs on each table. In addition, Canyon Lakers are encouraged to think ahead when it comes to calling in guests for the long weekend. Member Services clerks will provide residents with passes they can mail to their guests to speed the entry process when they arrive at the gates. Guests can be called in for four or five days. To take advantage of this process, property owners should provide a typed or hand printed list to POA clerks, who will prepare the passes and return them so they can be mailed before the holiday. At least a 24-hour turnaround is required. The Member Services Department will be open on Tuesday, July 4, from 7 a.m. To 4 p.m. On the 4th of July, guards will be walking along the guest lane at the Main Gate, and anyone with a pre-prepared pass will be allowed to leave that line and enter in the decal lane. In addition, a second computer will be set up at the East Gate to accommodate the inflow of guests. The population of the community more than doubles each 4th of July holiday, so planning ahead is encouraged to make the day run smoothly. |
