Bassmasters
     This month’s Canyon Lake Bassmasters tournament was held June 10. It was a Zone Tournament with the lake divided into four zones, each team having to rotate through each of those zones. The team of Chuck Moreno and Joey Gambina took 1st place with a limit of bass weighing 14.60 lbs. anchored by Joey’s 4.67 lb. Big Fish. Finishing in 2nd place was the team of Steve Baker and Danny Batanich with 12.56 lbs.; Ryan Krost and Elias Villaran took 3rd place with 12.27 lbs. A total of nine teams fished the tournament and brought 38 fish to the weigh-in.
     The Canyon Lake Bassmasters meet on the first Wednesday of every month and hold a tournament on the following Saturday. They also hold six Team Open Tournaments per year, which are open to all residents of Canyon Lake. The next Team Open Tournament is scheduled for November 19. The club is active in many community events and hosts the annual Kids Fishing Derby each August. Those interested in learning more about bass fishing and low-pressure competition may call President Mike Wiley at 246-9633.
     The club also sponsors a Junior Bassmasters club, which meets bimonthly and prior to the regular meetings. For more information, contact Sal Gervasi at 244-3294 or Mike Rhodes at 244-9368.

Woman's Club
     This month the Canyon Lake Woman’s Club meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 21, at 10 a.m., at the Lodge. Dee Zazio will be installing the new board of directors for 2006/07. In addition, the recipients of the Woman’s Club’s scholarship and philanthropic donations will attend to accept their awards. The luncheon will be Breast of Chicken Chasseur, rice pilaf, chef’s choice dessert. Reservations must be made by Wednesday, June 14, at 7 p.m. with one of the following: Shirley D’Agostino at 244-0126, Beverly Leckie at 244-3320, Erla Wetherall at 244-8342 or Carol Bivens at 265-3156.
     Cancellations must be received no later than Friday, June 16, by calling Pat Batten at 246-4201. Remember, a reservation made is a reservation paid.
     Leslie Brand will be collecting $15 dues for those who have not paid for the coming year. She will be accepting checks prior to the meeting and during the break. Those whose dues have not been paid by June 30, will not have their names listed in the new roster. Members should verify that information in the current roster is correct.

Travel Club
     Members and guests with reservations for the Eastern Canada trip are invited to the ticketing, documentation and orientation meeting on June 29 at 3 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the Country Club.

Yacht Club
     The Canyon Lake Yacht Club’s progressive dinner party for June 24 has been changed to Saturday, August 5. Thank you to Ann and Jim Bond for volunteering their home for the event; the group is still in need of one or possibly two additional homes.
     Members are invited to bring favorite appetizers or desserts. Please contact Vice Commodore Bob Fuess at 244-4308.

Women's Golf Club
     The “Flamingo Fling” Jack and Jill will be held on June 24. Payoffs will be given for net and gross with closest to the hole for men and women.
     Sign ups for this foursome game will be located at the Pro Shop. The luncheon will follow the Silent Auction for the Monuments. For more information regarding the auction, contact Joe Kamashian; and for more information on Jack and Jill, contact Anne Norris or Linda Johnson.

Wakeboard Club
     The Canyon Lake Wakeboard Club tourney scheduled for June 10 has been changed to tomorrow, June 17, at the Lake Elsinore Channel, beginning at 7 a.m. Canyon Lake participants and spectators are invited to attend.

Twirlers
     The Twirlers Square Dance Club offers weekly instructional classes for square, round and line dancing. All classes are held in the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge. Wednesday evening square dance classes are held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for a grads workshop, followed by a beginners’ class from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Club dances featuring guest callers and round dance cuers are held the second Sunday of each month from 2 to 5 p.m.
     Round dance classes are offered on Mondays, with a transitional class from 12:30 to 2 p.m., followed by a class for advanced dancers from 2 to 4 p.m. A new beginners’ class is also being offered over the next four Mondays from noon to 1 p.m. The cost of the beginners’ class is $4 per person, with the first class free.      Beginning and intermediate line dance classes are held each Wednesday afternoon from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m. Please contact Sam at 244-2645 for information concerning line dance classes.

Line Dancing
     A beginner Line Dance class began May 16 and is held on Tuesdays, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., at the City Multi-purpose Room. The cost is $4 per class. The instructor is Diana Gallagher. All ages are welcome.
     A beginning to intermediate Line Dance class, currently being taught by Same and Richard Semka, will continue being taught at the Holiday Bay Room in the Lodge on Wednesdays, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The cost is $4 per class. All ages are welcome.

Tennis Club
     Congratulations to the winners of the Canyon Lake Tennis Club Member/Guest Tournament held Saturday, June 10. There were four winning teams. Winners of the Men’s Doubles were Andy McBride and guest Mike Jiron; and the winners of the Women’s Doubles were Sheryl Aguilar and guest Natalia Scholl. Consolation winners were the Men’s Doubles team of Mike Thatcher and guest Dan England; and consolation winners of the Women’s Doubles were Karen Wentzel and her guest.
     The Canyon Lake Tennis Club will host its next tournament, the Fiesta Doubles Round Robin, on Saturday, July 22, at 5 p.m. A potluck and drawings will be included, and the cost is $10 per person.
     Deadline to sign up for the tournament is Monday, July 17. Club tournaments are open only to club members, but new members are welcome to join. Memberships are $20 per individual and $30 per family per year. If interested, contact Tournament Director John Benner at 551-6331.
