Play Bingo this Sunday
The Canyon Lake Lioness Club hosts Bingo on the first and third Sunday of each month at 2 p.m. in the City Hall Multi-purpose Room. Bring a friend and enjoy a Sunday afternoon with other Bingo enthusiasts and get a six-game pack for free! Anyone bringing a new guest who has not participated in a Lioness Bingo session before will receive a $10 game pack free of charge.
The next session is scheduled this Sunday, November 5. All proceeds from Lioness Bingo goes to charities such as the Loma Linda Lions Eye Foundation, Guide Dogs of the Desert, Canine Companions, City of Hope and other local organizations. Please contact Lioness Sharon Timms at 244-3555 for more information.

An overstuffed mailbox
One of the USPS mailboxes inside the Main Gate was damaged by rust and is on the list for replacement; but until that time, there is only one box available and it is getting overstuffed, according to Pack, Wrap and Post owner Debby Gagnon. Debby suggests that, rather than trying to stuff more mail into the box than can be safely accommodated, residents bring their mail up to one of the boxes available in the Towne Center, including two located directly in front of Pack, Wrap and Post.

Play group for the younger set
Jennifer Ferguson is interested in finding out if there are other mothers of children age birth to 2 ½ who would like to get together on a weekly basis for fun and fellowship. According to Jennifer, most of the playgroups like the YMCA are for the pre-school set, but this group would be for younger children. She would like mothers to call her at 244-1753 to see if there is interest in such a group in Canyon Lake.

Missing banner
The Canyon Lake Art Association requests their banner be returned, no questions asked. The banner was hung at the East Gate to announce the group’s art show last June, but was apparently taken down when another banner was hung in its place. “All we ask is that it be returned to us, no questions asked,” says Art Association President Jan Tapp. Just put it on my doorstep at 23230 Pretty Doe Dr., or return it to another Art Association member.

Greeting cards fundraiser
Packages of colorful greeting cards created by children at Cornerstone Christian School are now being sold to raise funds for women and children in sober living homes. Canyon Lake resident Rosalie Campbell of Garden Path Ministries is heading up this outreach. The donation for a package of eight cards is $10.
There are five themed packs: Holidays, Christmas, God’s Creation, Floral and People and Places. All funds will go into the “Helping Hands Benevolent Fund,” which will be used to buy bus passes, toiletries and school supplies for the women and children at the sober living homes. The cards are on sale at European Carpets, Pack, Wrap and Post and California Styles.

Detect water leaks
The Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District wants residents to know that they can easily check for water leaks using their water meter if the meter face has a small triangle, called a “tattletale.” To perform this simple leak test, shut off all running water both inside and outside the home and look at the meter. If the tattletale is slowly spinning, a leak may be present; repeat the test to be certain all water is off. If a leak is suspected, it should be located and repaired immediately to help conserve water as well as lower your water bill. Additional money-saving water conservation tips can be found online at www.evmwd.com.

Tribute to Frank Sinatra
“My Way – A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra” is now playing at the Welk Resort Theatre, where it will continue through November 12. The presentation honors the work of this great singer and actor with more than 50 unforgettable and timeless hits, including “My Way,” “It Was a Very Good Year,” “Witchcraft,” “That’s Life, “That Old Black Magic” and, of course, “New York, New York.” Four different performers will capture and communicate the music made over the years by Frank Sinatra.
Prices range from $37 to $40 for performance only and $53 to $58 if a buffet is included. Matinee performances are on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday at 1:45 p.m. Evening performances are held Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 8 p.m.
Call the Welk box office at 888-802-7469. For group reservations of 15 or more, call 760-749-8501.

Thanking the troops
Residents are invited to check out www.letssaythanks.com for a nifty way to show their appreciation to military personnel stationed abroad. Sponsored by Xerox, all a visitor to letssaythanks.com has to do is pick out a postcard, write a message of support and click “send.” Xerox will print the card and send it to a soldier who is currently serving in Iraq. It’s free and will brighten the day of dedicated heroes who are hundreds of miles away from everything they love. The postcards, depicting patriotic scenes and hometown images, were selected from a pool of entries from children across the country. After writing your personal message, the postcard is printed on the Xerox iGen3® Digital Production Press and mailed in a care package by military support organization Give2TheTroops.
