Street Carts club to hold membership drive
The sign at the entrance to Canyon Lake reads “Entering Golf Cart Community.” Once inside, though, “Entering Golf Cart Culture” seems more appropriate. Golf carts are everywhere, and those operating them aren’t necessarily golfers.
Meetings held to discuss water quality
Canyon Lakers will be relieved to know that concrete steps are finally being taken to deal with the problems of water quality here. As residents are aware, each time substantial rainstorms occur, run-off from this area’s 700-mile watershed wind up in Canyon Lake.

Worse yet, the Boy-Boss is secretly dating our man Dan’s daughter. This premise totally creeps out these 50ish reviewers.
Young lady has a lot on the ball
Kelli Keigwin, 15, has a lot on the ball, literally. The daughter of Jon and Kimberly Keigwin, is the only freshman on the varsity soccer team at Elsinore High School. Kelli has been playing soccer for the past five years and was part of the Elsinore Middle School team, on which she was a forward.

Trauma Intervention Programs Inc. (TIP), a non-profit organization, is looking for men and women to be part of a unique team of Crisis Responders, trained to provide emotional and practical support to victims immediately following a tragic event.

The month of December saw a general decrease in criminal activity for Canyon Lake, with only identity theft and fraud showing an increase. This is not an uncommon trend seen by law enforcement agencies during the holiday season, and reports are expected to taper off over the next couple of months.

On Sunday afternoon, December 26, Rod Fletcher was looking over the wooden railing of a remote fishing village restaurant on the western coast of Malaysia when he saw an unusual sight. The water level suddenly rose about three feet. Used to sailing and the ways of the ocean, he remarked, “That tide came in awfully fast.”
CLCT presents Academy Awards themed event
Canyon Lake Community Theatre has planned "An Evening At the Academy Awards" – a romantic evening of entertainment, food, wine and dancing on Saturday February 12, from 6 p.m. to midnight, in the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge.
Little League and Softball sign-ups
Canyon Lake Little League will have try-outs for the 2005 baseball season tomorrow, January 22, as well as January 29 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Gault Field. The last chance to sign up for Lake Elsinore Girls Softball will be Saturday, January 22, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tuscany Hills Park.

No one wanted to see it happen, but, after 16 straight wins, the Temescal Canyon Varsity Basketball team finally gave one up on Monday, January 17, during the Martin Luther King Inland Classic at Riverside King High School.

The Canyon Lake Tennis Club is looking for a few good members. Whether they are beginning or experienced tennis players, anyone who would like to enjoy the sport with a fun group of individuals is invited to attend the annual New Member Tournament on Saturday, January 29.
Tennis pro returns from holiday in Sri Lanka
Canyon Lake Tennis Pro Baba Soysa says he was surprised and pleased by all the phone calls he got from friends in Canyon Lake, especially Tennis Club members, but he wants to emphasize that neither he nor his family was personally impacted by the tsunami that devastated the east coast of Sri Lanka while he was visiting his home over the holidays.
Girl saves a tired dog and a tipsy turtle
Jamie Ensign feels like a hero and well she should since the 11-year-old 6th grader from Canyon Lake Middle School saved not one but two critters during the recent heavy rains. On the first occasion, she was taking her own dog outside to go to the bathroom at her waterfront home when she noticed a golden retriever barking and pawing at something in the lake a few docks away.

This week’s pet is a Rat Terrier and she is almost 2 years old. She already has been fixed and loves to be around children.

Changes to shoreline policy proposed
The following are proposed changes to Shorezone Policy/Lake and Marina Rule B-30 (proposed new language is printed in bold face and Proposed new rule (Rule 6.200.C) Canyon Lake residents hve 30 days to comment on this proposal.
POA explains new telephone system
There has been some confusion regarding the POA’s new telephone system, but when residents become more familiar with the program, they will find it much more efficient, according to Controller Ron Phipps.
Community Cuisine: Sunday brunch at the Lodge
It is the first Sunday after the deluge. A raging Salt Creek has dropped to a trickle, the San Jacinto River has returned to its banks and the causeways in the community are again traversable; only wispy remnants of depleted storm clouds mar a blue sky. It is a perfect day for brunch at the Lighthouse.
Dredger could be delivered next week
There’s a possibility that the long-awaited dredger might be delivered to Canyon Lake next week. According to Operations Manager Paul Johnson, the dredger is ready – except for the installation of a density meter, which has been ordered from another vendor.
