A summary of the POA meeting T-Ball field The Board authorized emergency approval of the proposed T-Ball field between the two lower fields at Gault Field. The Canyon Little League will work on this project and provide funding necessary. Opening day is February 26. Annual Meeting/Election schedule The Board approved the Annual Meeting and Election calendar for this year. It is as follows: February 15: Announce availability of 'Notice of Intention to Run' forms at the POA's February Board meeting. February 18: Announce availability of 'Notice of Intent to Run' forms in The Friday Flyer. March 18: Deadline for filing 'Notice of Intent to Run' forms and resumes for candidates for 2005-2007 Directors’ seats. Announcement of candidates also will be placed in The Friday Flyer on March 25. March 25: Record date for notice and voter eligibility. April 11: Mail notice of Annual Meeting, resumes and proxies April 18: Home Owners Club 'Meet the Candidates' night. May 11: Annual Meeting, 10 a.m. Recess meeting to 7 p.m. May 13: Alternate Annual Meeting (if necessary.) 10 a.m. Committee appointments The Board approved the appointment of Heather Kirk to the Appeals Committee. An attorney who graduated from Hastings College, she says her training and experience will help the committee pursue its goals. In addition, Dick Messer has been appointed chairman of the Green Committee. The committee has been reorganized with Jon Keigwin as secretary and Hugh Wagoner as a committee member. 1st Reading: Cart Path policy The Green Committee has proposed a new Cart Path policy that would state, 'When the Golf Course superintendent closes the Golf Course to carts, this closure shall pertain to all golf carts, including those with medical flags.' According to the committee, letting any carts on the Golf Course under 'carts on cart paths only' conditions causes damage to the course. Canyon Lake property owners will have 30 days to comment on this proposed policy. Directors can be e-mailed at the addresses listed on Page A-2 or property owners can attend the February 15 POA meeting to comment personally before a final vote is taken. Employee training Next month, on February 25, the POA will conduct a customer service training session for the staff. In addition, the Association has completed the written policy and testing procedure for a managers’ training program in sexual harassment and has held the first training session for all managers. The POA is in the process of having the employee manual review and updated and has finished the new substance abuse policy. Rules and Regulations The POA and Board of Directors has created a sub-committee to organize the review and update of the community’s Rules and Regulations. This undertaking is expected to be completed sometime in May. Road Reserve The Board authorized General Manager Clint Warrell to enter into an agreement with Webb Associates for a Road Reserve Study in an amount not to exceed $30,000, including tax. The funding will be drawn from the Repair and Replacement Road Reserve Account. According to Scott Hildenbrandt, Webb’s Vice-president, increasing the length of the preventative maintenance cycle and accelerating the schedule for permanent repairs over time will benefit the community in the long run and will not overburden the Road Reserve Fund. In order to do this, a new evaluation of the road system will be prepared by Inland Foundation Engineering, utilizing previous information and conducting anew field review to identify and rank areas within the road system for rehabilitation. Closure of Hole #2 The Board authorized the closure of Hole #2 for approximately one week for maintenance while the drainage problem is being solved around the tee box. This date will be scheduled by the Golf Pro so it will not interfere with any scheduled tournaments. More hole closures Directors also authorized the closure of the Golf Course and individual holes as recommended by the Green Committee for the required tree trimming. The course will be closed all day Monday, March 14, a date already scheduled as a half-day maintenance day. In addition, nine holes will be closed on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, March 15, 16 and 17. This will allow the contractor to complete the job in a speedy and safe manner with the least impact to players. Golfers still can play 18 holes those days by playing the same nine holes twice. |
