Dredger could be delivered next week There’s a possibility that the long-awaited dredger might be delivered to Canyon Lake next week. This photo, provided by PBS&J, might be a little fuzzy, but gives Canyon Lakers an idea of what the dredger will look like. According to Operations Manager Paul Johnson, the dredger is ready – except for the installation of a density meter, which has been ordered from another vendor. Once that piece of equipment is acquired and installed, the dredger will be on its way.
Once the dredger is acquired, there is still $700,000 in equipment still needed to be delivered. Ordered from Texas, it is expected to arrive in mid-February, Paul says.
In anticipation of the program to remove the silt from the bottom of the lake, the land at East Port is being prepared to house the equipment, Paul says. This entails grading the site, putting in drains, bringing in a base of gravel and building berms and platforms for the equipment. Because the land has been so saturated from recent storms, it has not been possible to begin that part of the project until this week, according to Paul.
The Friday Flyer will continue to inform residents as the project continues.
