Tennis Club to host New Member Tournament

The Canyon Lake Tennis Club is looking for a few good members. Whether they are beginning or experienced tennis players, anyone who would like to enjoy the sport with a fun group of individuals is invited to attend the annual New Member Tournament on Saturday, January 29. The round-robin mixer will begin at 8 a.m., and will include a barbecue. New members who sign up for the club can participate free of charge.
Even those who can’t play tennis are invited to come to the event and sign up for the club, meet club members and enjoy the barbecue. They and their family members can also paint a tile for the club’s permanent tile wall at the new Tennis Courts. The Tennis Club will be hosting its tile-painting booth throughout 2005 to raise funds for court improvements. All supplies will be on hand to paint a tile and become a part of Canyon Lake’s history.
Currently, the club has approximately 100 individual and family memberships, with a total of almost 200 members. Dues are $20 for individuals or $30 for families per year, and are collected for the calendar year in January. Benefits of membership include invitations to monthly tournaments, two out-of-town tennis weekends and the annual progressive boat theme dinner party and Christmas Party.
To participate in the New Member Tournament, contact Terry Loy at 244-6864. Deadline to participate in the tennis tournament is Wednesday, January 26.
