Born in 1926 in Tujunga, California, Ed was a naval veteran of World War II and fought in the big battle of Leyte Gulf on the Carrier USS Kalinin Bay. He married Mona Packer in 1948 and served with the Glendale Police Department for 30 years, retiring in 1979 as Sargent in charge of the Traffic Division. He and Mona spent their retirement in Canyon Lake, RVing with the Roadrunners, square dancing with the Twirlers, water skiing and being active seniors. Ed also served on the Canyon Lake Emergency Preparedness Committee. The couple celebrated their 56th anniversary last July 2. In addition to Mona, Ed is survived by two sons, Gary and Bill; six grandchildren, Tim, Amanda, Codie, Nicole, Billy and David; two sisters, Edith Massey of Dayton, Washington, and Shirley LaLiberte of Burbank and a brother, Richard Seidel of Meredith, Idaho. He will be sorely missed by all his friends and family. A memorial service was held at Miller Jones Mortuary in Sun City on Saturday, January 15, with interment at Riverside National Cemetery. |
