Hollie was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center, where doctors worked tirelessly to relieve pressure on her injured brain. Though she never regained consciousness, Hollie’s family and friends say they are grateful for the time God gave them in those last precious moments to be at her side and to love and support each other. Born March 7, 1984, in Southport, England, Hollie moved to Canyon Lake with her parents, Peter and Jayne Stanyon, and her older sister Kirsty, in 1988. She attended local schools and graduated from Temescal Canyon High School in 2002, where she was a varsity cheerleader. On December 4, 2004, Hollie and Chris Fouts decided to celebrate their love and were joined in marriage. Hollie loved life. Her favorite activities included shopping, snowboarding, trips to the River, jet skiing and floating on rafts in Canyon Lake with her friends. She planned to be a pediatric nurse and was currently attending classes at MSJC. Unimaginably, Hollie’s sister Kirsty was also taken in a car accident just a year-and-a-half ago on June 8, 2003. In speaking with friends who comforted her, Jayne says she felt Kirsty’s presence in Hollie’s hospital room and knew they needed to be together. Jayne and Peter say they felt the struggle in Hollie between staying here because so many people were praying for her to live and going with her sister. “They both died at a time in their lives when everything was great and they were full of hope for the future,” says Jayne. “They were sisters in life, but now they are soul mates in eternity.” Hollie’s calling was to help others and she did so in her last selfless act by becoming an organ donor, an issue about which she felt great passion. Representatives from the donor organization, One Legacy, told Peter and Jayne that healthy organs like Hollie’s will save up to eight lives and help 40 other people. According to her parents, this brings them much comfort as it allows Hollie to live on in spirit and bring joy to so many others. Hollie loved her family trips to Hawaii, which held special memories of her and Kirsty swimming with sea turtles, scuba diving with dad and late night talks on the beach with best friend Crystal Posey. One of the things the family had determined to do for Kirsty was to scatter her ashes at sea in this special location; however, they had not yet had an occasion to do so. Now, with Hollie’s passing, they will take both girls’ ashes to Hawaii some time in the near future. “We would like to thank all our friends from Canyon Lake and the Cornerstone family for their prayers, love and support, as well as cards, food and flowers sent to comfort us,” says Jayne. “We also want to thank Hollie’s neurosurgeon, Dr. Spicer, and the wonderful nurses at Inland Valley ICU. We will be eternally grateful for their compassionate care. We are also so grateful for Kellee Spillman, who comforted Hollie while waiting for help to arrive.” In addition to her parents, Peter and Jayne Stanyon, and husband Chris Fouts, Hollie is survived by Nana “Hoota” and Granddad, Grandma Stanyon and Uncle Lionel Stanyon as well as an extended family in England. A celebration of Hollie’s life will be held Monday, January 24, at 7 p.m., at Cornerstone Church in Wildomar, 34570 Monte Vista Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help defray medical and funeral expenses. The Hollie Stanyon Memorial Fund is established at Guaranty Bank, 31740 Railroad Canyon Road, Canyon Lake, CA 92587. |
